Popular indoor attractions and activities:

Visit one of Wichita’s many museums, from a look at Wichita’s baseball history at the Wichita Baseball Museum to completing the scavenger hunt at Museum of World Treasures.

The Wichita-Sedgwick Co. Historical Museum is featuring a series of special programs, starting on March 14 and happening every day through March 17. Each program will have a special theme like “Keeper of the Plains” and “Celebrate Wichita.”

Delve into Wichita's rich aviation history at the Kansas Aviation Museum. The museum is also offering offering STEM Spring Break Camp, three days of fun learning about aviation careers through hands-on experiences.

Catch a Wichita Thunder hockey game on their home ice at INTRUST Bank Arena.

Find educational fun at Exploration Place, Wichita’s science center featuring hands-on permanent exhibits plus cool traveling exhibitions, such as this season’s Bricktopia and Skyscraper Science.

Explore the DIY plant bar and make your own terrarium at GROW Giesen Plant Shop.

Indulge your creativity by exploring galleries and participating in art activities scheduled at CityArts, Mark Arts, Ulrich Museum of Art and Wichita Art Museum, which recently renovated its dedicated area for kids, “Play.” Pop-up paintings and other crafts can be found at various local shops like The Loud Cicada as well.

Sneak in a little learning and a lot of fun at PBS Kansas’ Children Education & Discovery Center or at the Advanced Learning Center’s STEAM Learning Garden.

Sign up for a class or order a take-home kit from Paint the Towne. Or watch handblown art glass pieces being made at Rayer’s Bearden Stained Glass. Just outside of Wichita are Infinity Art Glass in Benton and Karg Art Glass in Kechi.
 

ACTIVE INDOOR ADVENTURERS WILL LOVE:

• Make a splash at Blast Off Bay, a large indoor water park featuring a sci-fi theme, variety of slides, surf machine, kid's area and a swim-up bar.
• Twirl around the ice-skating rink at Wichita Ice Center.
• Knock down some pins at popular bowling (Wichita, Northridge and Northrock) and The Alley Indoor Entertainment. Or bounce for hours at Aviate inside Wichita Sports Forum.
• Book ax throwing lanes at Axe to Grind and Blade & Timber. Age minimums are required and anyone under 18 must have parental supervision.
• Play hundreds of arcade games (along with other games and activities) at Dave & Buster’s, The Alley Indoor Entertainment, The Arcade and  Pink Elephant Games & Café.
• Climb the walls at Bliss Climbing & Fitness, Wichita’s full service indoor rock climbing, bouldering and training center.

Catch a movie under the stars at one of only a handful of drive-in movie theatres in Kansas, Starlite Drive-In.

Experience the candy store, the giant 16,000-gallon aquarium, and more at SCHEELS, a destination sporting goods store located at Towne East Square.

Explore the Kansas Wildlife Habitat for free at Riverside Park (daily feedings at noon with talks from the exhibit caretaker). Book an animal meet & greet or enjoy the animal encounters at Tanganyika Wildlife Park, re-opening for the regular season on Saturday, March 9. Opt for their Best Day Bundle, which includes unlimited animal feedings and your choice of two experiences, such as the Sloth Behind the Scenes or a Penguin Meet and Greet. Make plans to come back this summer to enjoy their splash park, Tanganyika Falls! Or, journey around the world at Sedgwick County Zoo to see 3,000 individual animals of nearly 400 species.

Learn about Wichita’s iconic Keeper of the Plains, which celebrates its 50^th anniversary this year, and see the nightly lighting of the firepots.

Walk amongst 40 life-size, moving, and realistic dinosaurs at Field Station: Dinosaurs, whose outdoor dinosaur trail and miniature golf course open for the 2024 season on March 9. The park will be featuring Spring Break Sneak Peek from March 9-17, which consists of special spring break activities and Jurassic Golf will be open until 8 p.m. each night.

See what’s blooming at Botanica Wichita and take a ride on the Khicha Family Carousel. Make sure to roll down Troll Hill too!

Active outdoor adventurers will love:

• Spend a day playing at Wichita’s entertainment complexes: All Star Sports in West Wichita and All Star Adventures in East Wichita—both have a variety of outdoor and indoor attractions.
• Hit the courts at Chicken N Pickle. You can find bocce ball, shuffleboard and pickleball (indoor and outdoor) courts.
• Take a swing at one of the city’s newest attractions, Topgolf Wichita. The facility offers climate-controlled hitting bays for you and your family to take aim and swing at outfield targets.
• Explore Veterans Memorial Park or the Great Plains Nature Center.
• Hop on an electric scooter or rent a bicycle through Bike Share ICT or Boats & Bikes and go on an urban art tour exploring Wichita’s unique outdoor art installations or downtown murals.
• Go fishing, rent kayaks, and pedal boats, ride the miniature train or a pony, and play miniature golf at O.J. Watson Park. Rides are available from March through October.
