  • The land of Clinton State Park was once owned by the Fellenstein family, with ruminants of the Barber School one-room schoolhouse made of limestone still standing. Clinton State Park is located just outside Lawrence, Kansas, home to the University of Kansas and notable civil war conflicts of raids by the members of the William Quantrill gang. The area was key for the Underground Railroad. Also located near the city of Lecompton, Kansas home to the first State Capital of Kansas when Kansas was known as a territory before statehood. Learn more at the Wakarusa River Valley Heritage Museum in Bloomington Park East at Clinton Lake.
