Kansas Jayhawks

The number one rival to Kansas’ KSU, the University of Kansas Jayhawks stand in blue and red! Started in 1854 by abolitionists who settled on the curve of the Kaw River, KU now is a major public research and teaching institution of 28,000 students. The campus spans Lawrence, KS as well as holds four other campus locations in Kansas City, Overland Park, Wichita, and Salina. More than 370 degree programs are offered by the university and students who attend come from all 50 states, 105 countries, and are about 15% multicultural. The University Honors Program is nationally recognized, and KU has produced 26 Rhodes Scholars, more than all other Kansas schools combined. The University of Kansas Cancer Center is the state’s only designated National Cancer Institute and combined with KU’s many other medical related centers, creates one of the strongest pre-med and med schools in the state.
