If it’s History you’re after, come to Peabody and visit the Morgan House, 212 N. Walnut St, the award winning, authentically restored 1881 home of W.H. Morgan, Peabody Gazette editor. By appointment 620-983- 2174. Then visit the Peabody Township Library, 218 N. Walnut St. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places. One of the few Carnegie Libraries left; built in 1914. Next you can visit the Peabody Historical Museum, 106 E. Division, area history memorabilia, Victorian doll house and dolls in the building of the first free library in Kansas, Circa 1874 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Enjoy the architecture of the 1880’s Main Street. Many of the limestone and brick buildings still standing today were constructed between 1878 and 1890.
