Things to do in Lincoln, Kansas

The City of Lincoln Center, or just "Lincoln" as the locals say, is the county seat and commerce center of Lincoln County. Highways 14 and 18 intersect at Lincoln. Lincoln’s downtown commercial district was recently listed in the National Register of Historic Places (NHRP), and includes many buildings constructed of native Greenhorn limestone (locally referred to as “Post Rock” limestone).

In addition to being designated the "Post Rock Capital of Kansas" since 1989, Lincoln is home to three museums, an art center, and a first-run movie theater renovated and operated completely by volunteers. Lincoln's historic City Park offers great outdoor recreation opportunities including a pool and a unique disc golf course with limestone sign markers for each of the tee pads.

The Lincoln County Courthouse (NRHP) was built in 1900 out of local limestone, designed in the Romanesque Revival style, is one of the most photographed courthouses in Kansas. Lincoln is not only a great place to visit, but is a terrific place to live!
