Larned is a city located in Pawnee County along US-56 and the Arkansas River.
The city received its name due to its close approximation to the historic Fort Larned. Visitors can experience the humbled beginnings of Fort Larned at the Fort Larned National Historic Site, which sits just west of the city, also along the Arkansas River. Inside the actual city of Larned is the Santa Fe Trail Center Museum and Library, where preserved sod houses tell the story of the pioneers along the Santa Fe Trail. If you just can't get enough of the history around Larned, then be sure to also tour the Pawnee County All Veterans Memorial and the Pawnee County Historical Homes.
Larned has no shortage of places to eat, either. Find great local food at Edward's Street Brew & Bites, B & B Quality Meats, Peking Garden Restaurant, and Pin High Bar & Grill. Additionally, like many cities in Kansas along US-56, Larned has great options for RV campers to rest and stay overnight. For RV lovers, there is the Santa Fe Trail RV Park, West Wind Villas and RV Park, and the Camp Pawnee Campground.
