Things to do in Eskridge - Lake Wabaunsee, Kansas

Eskridge is a rural community in Wabaunsee County founded in 1869, rich in history and prides itself as being the “Gateway to the Flint Hills”. The town is on the Native Stone Scenic Byway and the scenery surrounding this small town is breathtaking and well worth the drive!

The city attracts visitors to nearby Lake Wabaunsee. During World War II, Lake Wabaunsee served as both a training ground for American soldiers and a POW camp for captured German soldiers. Attractions at Lake Wabaunsee include Wabaunsee Pines Golf Course, Lake Bum’s Bait Shop and swimming area, The Wild Olives Restaurant, and the 4^th of July fireworks are worth the drive!

Downtown Eskridge has two listings on the National Historic Registry: a distinguished old bank building and the octagonal wooden bandstand at the park, which has a long history of social and community events. Attractions within the city include the Maisie Community swimming pool, a Farmer’s Market held on the second Saturday open May-August, Labor Day weekend which also includes the Eskridge Labor Day Rodeo, and in October the same weekend at the annual Fall Festival.
