Summerfield had its start in 1889 when a railroad was being built through that territory and the first post office was established. The town was named for Elias Summerfield, a railroad official and has a population today of 156. A community owned restaurant and grocery store can be found in the center of town. Blacksmith & Pioneer Days is hosted in August of each year.
