Incorporated in 1888, Scammon was once a bustling coal mining community located in Cherokee County. Today, the community has a population of approximately 450 residents and is home to St. Bridget’s Catholic Church and Josie’s Ristorante. The community is also located near the Mined Land Wildlife Area which provides ample opportunities for camping, hunting, and fishing.
